2025 Info
Join us for five fun-filled Friday nights at Mohawk Mountain!
This is one of Redding's best traditions as the winter weather takes over. Kids in grades 5-10 are excited to get onto the Ski & Board Club Bus as the school day ends to spend their Friday nights on the slopes with their friends. Spaces fill quickly and are limited by our bus seats.
Club Members will be transported by coach bus with their gear from and back to John Read Middle School in Redding. JRMS students will go straight from school to the bus, while non-JRMS students will be dropped off by you at 3:45 to the bus stop location at the school.
Upon our arrival at the mountain - around 5:15 pm - club members are given their lift passes and are free to ski, board, or be in the Lodge with their chosen buddies. Check-ins are every hour on the hour and last approximately 5 minutes. The Trip Coordinator remains at the base of the mountain while club staff are sent to ride the lifts and slopes to check on club members throughout the night.
This is an independent trip - our staff cannot assist children in skiing or snowboarding and will be focusing on general safety. All club members must maintain a high level of independence, maturity, and respect. Any newbies to the sport should sign up for the lesson or practice prior to attending any of the trips for their safety and comfort.

Club Member Rules
Participants must be on the bus by 3:40. Late arrivals may forfeit their spot for the day. If the bus is missed, and at the discretion of the trip coordinator, a guardian has the option to drop the child off at the Mountain and then the participant can return back to Redding with the bus.
The trip coordinator will announce check-in times at the mountain. All participants must be on time for all check-ins or they will be referred to Ski Patrol as lost and emergency protocols activated.
All participants must remain with their buddies, wear a helmet, and wear the reflective Redding arm band at all times on runs and will not leave the Lodge or open ski or board runs.
All gear will be stowed in the luggage compartment of the coach bus. All participants will sit in the same seat to and from the mountain. All garbage will be removed prior to alighting the bus.
There is no tolerance for: vulgar or profane language; belittling of other participants; abusive or aggressive behavior; bullying; physical contact or public displays of affection; defiance against any club staff member, mountain staff member, bus driver, or volunteer; use or possession of alcohol, cigarettes, nicotine, tobacco, vape products, and/or prescription drugs; recording and/or publishing photos or video of any members of the public, staff, or peers; contact with non-club members.
All electronic devices (phones, cameras, headphones, etc.) are the responsibility of the participant, but may be confiscated if they are used to harass, bother, bully, or otherwise distract from the trip.
By registering for this club, I understand that if I fail to follow any of the above rules and guidelines, I may have my lift pass deactivated, or be suspended from the trip and sent home from the mountain, and/or suspended from all following trips.
By registering for this club, I understand that my personal belongings are my responsibility and that the bus cannot wait for lost items.
By registering for this club, I understand that breaking rules that are zero tolerance may result in immediate suspension from the trip with bus transportation privileges revoked, causing a parent or emergency contact to pick me up from the Mountain.
By registering for this club, I understand that this trip requires independence. I will be responsible and will not go on any runs that are above my skill level, and I understand that staff members cannot stay with me to help me ski or snowboard.
Parent/Guardian Information & Rules
Equipment dropped off before school will be stored during the day in a locked closet. A Park and Recreation staff person will be at JRMS each Friday morning from 8:00am-9:00 am. The closet will not be opened by JRMS staff during the day. For security reasons, you may not drop off any gear after 9:00 AM. Any gear not delivered by 9:00 AM must get to the bus at 3:30 to drop off equipment to your child.
The Park and Rec. Department must be notified of all cancellations prior to a trip. Any cancellations due to illness or injury must be received by the Wednesday before a trip in order to receive a 50% credit on your household account. A charge of $30.00 will be assessed for any cancellation received after the deadline. Credits may remain on your household account indefinitely.
All participants should attempt to bring a lock for their ski equipment or use the lockable racks available at the ski facility, as there may be over 400 other students also at the mountain. We encourage all skiers to be attentive and responsible for their equipment. Park & Recreation is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Ski trips are scheduled to return to JRMS at 11:00 p.m. Guardians or rides must be at JRMS just prior to return time. Late pick-ups can result in dismissal from the ski program and forfeiting any remaining trip reservations. Those who are late are subject to a $10 fee for each 15 minutes or part of 15 minutes that they are late.
Guardians must also be familiar with the participant rules on the following page. If a participant is dismissed from the club due to breaking any of the rules or regulations set by the Park & Recreation Department, Mohawk Mountain administration, or possible laws and/or ordinances: you may need to pick up your child from the mountain. Please reserve one adult driver who could get to Mohawk on our club nights in case of an emergency or behavioral concern for a pick-up.
If your child(ren) is new to the sport: this is an independent trip. Our staff will stay at the base of the mountain or will be on the slopes, but they cannot stay with any one child (unless there is an emergency) so they can monitor all participants. Anyone new to the sport should sign up for a lesson and identify a buddy who is on a similar skill level in addition to practicing prior to the trips.
