Why Rainbow?

Tradition

Tie-dye and peace signs are synonymous with Travel Camp. Known by many of our partner organizations as the "Tie Dye Kids", kids in their neon rainbow Travel Camp shirts are a huge sign of growing up in Redding. Many local kids know that one day - when they get old enough - they'll be able to wear the tie-dyed shirt, and with it, go on all the adventures that Travel Campers have talked about for decades.

Safety

We travel to many different types of locations throughout the week - from water parks to museums. In a crowd of hundreds of people, even other camps in their own colored shirts or if in water, our Travel Camp kids are rapidly spotted. A NYPD officer commended us on this last year as we passed through Times Square - the multi-colored neon keeps us together, and makes it clear when we may stray apart.

"Our camper had a blast each and every day. The weather didn’t always cooperate but the camp staff always had a back up plan and communicated effectively with families to ensure the campers still had fun and engaging experiences." - Parent of a 7th grader
